Christmas in Fort Lauderdale

Hi! It is obvious with all of our beautiful decorations that the holidays are in full swing here at the resort. Also, throughout our city, many much loved festivities are taking place! Last Tuesday was the 53rd Annual Christmas on Las Olas, and, wow, I think this year had record attendance and energy! I remember when I was a little girl (about 40 years ago) and we would walk down Las Olas that evening and visit the different stores enjoying ...

Holiday at Lago Mar

Hi! I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! We have had a great holiday here at the resort. For all of the families staying with us, the Children’s Program has been a big success once again. From bingo to a circus and even a petting zoo, everyone had a blast!   As far as the circus goes, it has been over 25 years since our clown, Giggles, has been performing for our guests and it is obvious that she is loved both ...

The Lago Mar Fit Life

Hi! I’m writing to you because I really want to share the story of my past summer and the lifestyle changes I have made. Don’t get me wrong, my life was great before, but now I feel ten times better about myself and just in general. What I did was simple: I woke up one day after a tennis tournament, which I lost earlier than I probably should have due to lack of endurance and not being in the best physical ...

Memories of Lago Mar: Volume I – Debbie Banks Remembers

I remember when I was a little girl and my grandfather (Sidney Banks, First Generation), whom I loved dearly, used to take me, all dressed up, to the Sunday Night Buffet Dinner in the dining room. Men were always in suit jackets and there was always a band playing. I even remember the singer, Lee Carroll, who I thought was absolutely gorgeous, singing our favorite songs if we asked. Lots of our guests and members would dance and so would my brother Lee and I!  Every single table would ...

2015 FLIBS and New Menu

Hi! What an exciting week we have had here at the resort! Monday ended the 56th International Boat Show and it was absolutely incredible. The weather was great over the weekend and there was a lot of energy in our town. Chris and I spent most of the day on Saturday at the show and had a blast. It was very easy to see how great the economy is doing! There were so many floating docks with gorgeous boats of every size. We saw many ...

Delicious New Menu Arriving at Lago Mar

Hi! I hope everyone is enjoying the beautiful fall weather. We certainly are here at the resort. The skies have been crystal clear, with daytime temperatures averaging 75 degrees, and the local surfers have been enjoying the large waves rolling in. On Thursday we had a tasting of Chef Phil’s new lunch menu and it was amazing! The first dish we tried was a salad of romaine lettuce with candied pecans, dried apricots and pomegranates topped with a beautiful piece of ...

Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Hi! I cannot believe it is already October and what a weekend we just had to start the month off! Friday evening, Chris and I went to an event in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The very elegant party was hosted by a family who are members of Lago Mar, and they live right around the corner in a beautiful home on the inlet. Every year they host this event, filling their home with pink roses and welcoming everyone ...

Dine Out Lauderdale

Hi! Monday night I went to 15th Street Fisheries for dinner and enjoyed "Dine Out Lauderdale”, which is a six-week celebration of our top restaurants in Fort Lauderdale. There are more than 35 restaurants participating by offering specially-created, three course menus at a $35 fixed price. I absolutely love 15th Street Fisheries, upstairs and downstairs, so I decided to go there. If Chris and I take the kids out with us we usually sit downstairs because it is more casual and ...
