After the Storm: Hurricane Matthew

Hi! I am so grateful to report that we were spared by Hurricane Matthew. Our prayers go out to our fellow Floridians up in the northern part of the state. We did have to fully prepare for the storm by moving several beach chairs, tables, umbrellas, equipment, televisions and many other items. Our staff has been wonderful! Almost everyone took part in the preparation for the storm and then, at 6:00 am Friday, our employees began coming back to work ...

Red Cross Honors

Hi! I am so excited to blog about my most recent experiences with the Red Cross! On September 21, I was honored to receive the Red Cross’s Humanitarian of the Year award for Broward County at a beautiful event. "Dine and Dock", which was held at Pier 66, started with a champagne toast aboard a gorgeous yacht and then the rest of the evening unfolded in the Panorama Ballroom beginning with cocktails, delicious food stations and even a sake bar. ...

Tennis Olympian at Lago Mar

Hi! With the Olympics in full swing, I wanted to give you an exciting update on the two Fourth Generation competitive tennis players, Demi and Dani! They are now training at the resort with Melinda Czink, a former Hungarian professional tennis player who competed in the Olympic games in Athens. She was ranked #37 in the world! We are so fortunate to have her in our lives, both on and off the court. The girls are both playing amazing and ...

California Dreaming and Return to Paradise

Hi! I am so sorry I haven’t been in touch this past week but I was in California on a family vacation and we had an amazing time! We spent a few days in San Francisco exploring the city, taking a tour of Alcatraz and Muir Woods, and walking through China Town. Demi is almost fluent in Mandarin so she found this especially fascinating. We also took a drive out to Napa Valley and had the honor to be hosted by ...

Fourth of July at Lago Mar

Hi! I hope everyone had a fantastic Fourth! We sure did here at Lago Mar! The weather was great all day long with super sunny skies and a crystal clear ocean - perfect for swimming! During the day we had our steel drummer on the lagoon island and then Craig Fitch, our guitarist, played during the evening hours until the fireworks began. Chef Phil and his staff did a wonderful job with the buffet servicing Acquario and The Sea Grape Terrace. My ...

I Said Yes

Hi! I hope everyone is having a nice summer! I have some exciting news for everyone… On June 16th I turned 50 and got engaged to Chris! He gave me the most beautiful heart shaped diamond ring with a rose gold band. His proposal was very romantic; we were on a private beach in Green Turtle Cay in the Bahamas and he got down on one knee to ask me to marry him with the kids there! We are all so ...

New Summer, New Food, New Beach Club Director

Hi! Summer has officially started for me and the kids, as school ended last Wednesday! We have already spent so much time at the resort, having tennis friends over for match play/dinner and playdates down at the beach. I am so excited that our new lunch menu will be out soon! We just finished proofing it and it’s off at the printer’s. A few months back, we had a tasting of the new items and I immediately fell in love with ...

Food and Fitness at Lago Mar

Hi! The kids and I have been super busy with all of the "end of the year” events pertaining to school, some of which I have actually hosted at Lago Mar. All were successful but I have missed writing my blog. Thankfully, summer vacation is days away and we are so looking forward to traveling to a few fun places and spending most of our time here at the resort with friends. In the past week, I have been dining at ...

Mother’s Day Weekend at Lago Mar

Hi! I just wanted to report that Mother’s Day was a huge success here at the resort! The weather was perfect and the Air Show helped to make it even a more fabulous day. The Sun Sentinel reported that this was the best Air Show yet and I would have to agree. What a great place our beach was to watch all the planes do their maneuvers without having to deal with the crowds down AIA. Chris and I and the ...

Happy Birthday Sidney

Hi! I just wanted to share with you that today, April 18th, would have been my grandfather’s 118th birthday if he was still alive. I still miss Sidney, as we called him, and think of him often. We only knew him as Sidney because he did not want to be called grandpa and have anyone think he was old. He was a great man and spoiled me so much. It is because of his hard work and that of my grandmother, ...
