Hi! I have had the most exciting week attending 2 of Fort Lauderdale’s best holiday events!
Last Tuesday was Christmas on Las Olas and it was so much fun! My boyfriend and I had dinner at Lobster Bar Sea Grille with some friends and tasted some of the most delicious seafood we have ever had. I had the octopus, which was to die for, and the kale salad with cranberries and apples. He raved about the fresh stone crabs he ordered. After dinner, we walked down the boulevard watching the different choirs that were performing and looked at all of the beautiful Christmas decorations. There was a whole area designated for kids to enjoy and there were lots of them there. We ran into several people we knew and even saw Santa from a distance!
I remember going to Christmas on Las Olas as a little girl. I think I actually went to one of the first ones. At that time, the event consisted of the stores along the boulevard putting out homemade cookies and playing Christmas songs with maybe 100 or so people walking up and down the street. Now I believe there were over 40,000 visitors to Las Olas on that special night and so many different booths and stage performances. It is definitely a big production now and a very fun evening!
Last Saturday Lago Mar Resort bought a table at the Winterfest Ball and my brother and I invited some friends to go. I have to say I have never in my life been to an event that was that nicely planned. All anyone could say was “Wow”. It was at Hard Rock Live at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and had the most spectacular entertainment I have ever seen. There were beautiful girls swinging in trapezes and dancing in huge champagne glasses. I took a picture of a woman performing in front of a huge heart.
The dinner was equally amazing, a delicious surf and turf. I also photographed the dessert so I could show you how well done it was. One of my favorite parts of the evening was the concert by the Sugar Hill Gang! They were really famous when I was a teenager and we knew all the words to the songs! We even managed to have our picture taken with them after the performance. What a night that was!
An interesting fact I learned that night was that the Winterfest Boat Parade brings in 48 million dollars worth of revenue to our city. That is incredible and Lago Mar will definitely support every Winterfest Ball to come! I am so looking forward to watching the Winterfest Boat Parade this coming Saturday!
