Last Friday night we had our First Annual St. Patrick’s Day Party for kids of members and guests. The event was held in the Lakeview Ballroom, which looked so festive with lots of green and white balloons and shamrocks everywhere! As the children entered the room they received party hats and beads to get in the mood.
At the party, we served a fun, themed dinner. The guests could choose from corned beef and cabbage or chicken fingers with GREEN mashed potatoes! Chef Phil really outdid himself this time. He also created a GREEN honey mustard sauce! There was fresh fruit to choose from and assorted vegetables. I always try to offer veggies at all of my programs because I know I like my kids to eat healthy.
I almost forgot to mention that the parents were offered an Irish whiskey when they came in to the room!
After dinner came the dancing part of the evening with a fantastic DJ! The kids had a blast and so did the parents (especially the ones who had tried some Irish whiskey!) The night winded down with the children decorating shramrock shaped cookies with, of course, GREEN icing!
This was definitely a hit and will be an annual event now!
