Hi! One of our guests just shared something with me that I wanted to pass along to you all! Do you remember hearing about Fort Lauderdale native Diana Nyad, who at 64 swam from Cuba to Florida? It was Nyad’s third attempt and first success at this particular challenge. The current issue of The New Yorker has a profile on her and it has some enlightening information about her connection to Fort Lauderdale.
As it turns out, Nyad’s Cuba to Florida swim was inspired by time spent on Lago Mar’s beach as a child. Not only that but she attended Pine Crest School, the same school my children now attend. What a small world!
Congratulations Diana on such an impressive feat!
