Hi! Friday night we had so much fun at Lago Mar.
First, Demi had a tennis lesson with Jeff Chanin, our tennis pro of 20 years. I can only tell you that everyone young and old loves to work with him. (I have even heard some ladies say they have trouble keeping their eyes on the ball when he is teaching!) Demi and he played on one of our four courts. We have two courts on top of the parking garage and two that are literally on the beach. I sat at a table with a big umbrella and watched her play at the same time that I was watching my other three on the putt-putt golf course.
The couple that I was with was sitting at the Promenade Bar, enjoying strawberry daiquiris, the Friday drink special. After a few minutes I had to try one myself. Delicious!
Just as Demi’s lesson was ending, our guitarist, Craig Fitch, began playing on the lagoon island. Craig has been entertaining members and guests on Friday and Saturday nights for almost 20 years. He plays a little bit of everything. Whenever he spots me he always plays “Brown-eyed girl” because he knows it is my favorite. I love listening to Craig but I also love to watch him play his guitar on the island with the tiki torches lit all around him.
After taking this all in and socializing for a little bit, we meandered over to the patio for the Friday Fish Special. We all enjoyed South African swordfish served over pineapple jasmine rice with sautéed vegetables. The ginger cumin butter and sweet plantain chutney sauce that came over the fish was so tasty that I ate it all. No dessert for me!! To complement our fish we ordered a bottle of Robert Mondavi Reserve Chardonnay. For dessert we ordered a slice of key lime pie to share (none for me). When I left Lago Mar that night I felt like I had been on vacation for a day. I can’t wait until our fire pit is installed. It will sit between the Promenade Bar and Acquario on the beach. I am so excited! I will tell you more soon… Deb
