Hi! I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother’s Day! I definitely had the best Mother’s Day weekend ever!
I actually started celebrating on Friday morning in Chipper’s classroom, where my firstborn son read beautiful poetry to me that he had written himself and served me a red velvet cupcake!
Friday evening, my parents took my boyfriend and I to The New Shooters Waterfront for dinner to celebrate Mother’s Day with just adults. They have truly done an amazing job with that restaurant. It is gorgeous inside and out. We were seated outside and were able to enjoy the spectacular view of the Intracoastal Waterway, as well as the great weather! I ordered the Wild Salmon with the quinoa and roasted peppers and garbanzo beans. It was so delicious!
We also serve Wild Salmon at Lago Mar and it is very rare to find salmon that is genuinely wild anywhere. Wild Salmon is so much healthier and tastier that farm-raised.
After dinner we wandered a few feet and sat in what looked like a gigantic birdcage. There were also couches inside with comfy cushions – super cool! I am so grateful to live in Fort Lauderdale where one can choose from so many top restaurants on the water.
Saturday night, we took the kids to Lago Mar for the Prime Rib Special and they ate so much! They loved the prime rib, as well as the mashed potatoes and delicious fresh veggies it was served with. My boyfriend and I liked the fact that after dinner we were able to sit on the Sea Grape Terrace and have a drink and talk while they were on the playground. Everyone had a great time!
On Sunday, I awoke to breakfast in bed, made by my munchkins and then we headed back over to the resort to spend the day. It was such a beautiful day! The ocean had some waves that gave it a layered look. There were a lot of guests and members on the beach and every time I looked up I saw Nicole with a fresh tray of tropical drinks ready for some deserving moms! Having four kids of my own I felt very entitled to the Skinny Girl Margarita that I ordered for myself!
Chef Phil did another great job with the Mother’s Day Brunch inside Acquario. He had several stations – my favorite was the Paella Station. The smoked salmon display was very impressive too! My favorite entree was a tie between the Seared Snapper Livornese with Caper and Olive Citrus Sauces and the Braised Short Rib with Tomato Basil Chutney and Port Wine Drizzle! I think I am going to have to diet for a week to recover from all that I ate over the weekend but it was one I will never forget!
