Hi! Yesterday I took the kids to the St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival on Las Olas and we had a great time! The parade began promptly at noon and there was so much to see. There were several floats that were really neat with lots of decorations. My girls enjoyed seeing the Miss America contestants, all from different counties around Florida, riding in antique cars.
There were fire trucks and there was even a Swat vehicle that looked liked a “batman mobile”, according to my third child, Chipper! Chipper even saw one of his school friends aboard a speed boat that was decorated with lots of shamrocks and pulled by a car. From the boat they were throwing beads and candy! My kids loved it!
My favorite float was the one with the Irish Dancers! I also really loved the bag pipers. I am really in the St. Patty’s mood now and ready to celebrate next Sunday.
After the parade, we went with some friends to Mango’s, which is a great family restaurant on Las Olas, that serves a great lunch!
It was a really fun day! We are truly lucky to live in Fort Lauderdale and have so much to do!
Here’s a great video of last year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade:
