Catching up with old friends over food

Hi! I got to visit with some old friends last weekend. They were staying at Lago Mar for their high school reunion. Our catering staff was in charge of all the food and drinks and everyone said they  did a great job and that it was a wonderful event! Before the party started a few of us met in the lounge and shared some delicious appetizers. We had the Rock Shrimp Mac and Cheese and the Calamari, which is served with tomato sauce, lemon-lime cilantro ...

Cirque Du Soleil’s Quidam – Mesmerizing

Thursday night I accepted an amazing invitation from a very generous family for me and the kids to sit in a skybox and watch Cirque Du Soleil's Quidam at the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL. It was absolutely one of the best nights ever. The show was beautiful and the kids, as well as adults, were mesmerized by the strength and flexibility of the performers! I love living in Fort Lauderdale and being able to see shows like Quidam! Deb

Another Great July 4th at Lago Mar

Hi! It was another great July 4th at Lago Mar. Last night was so much fun! The weather was so perfect all day and throughout the evening until right after the fireworks, when it began to rain... perfect timing. I took my kids over in our golf cart, which was very festive looking... and we had an awesome dinner at Acquario. Chef Phil really outdid himself last night with an incredible buffet. I heard lots of members and guests commenting ...

New Lilly Pulitzer Bag at The Resort Shop

Hi! I found the most beautiful bag in The Resort Shop yesterday that I just had to have! It looks a lot like Missoni but it's actually Lilly Pulitzer! I have received so many compliments already. I snapped  a picture of Amber modeling it before I took it for myself. Amber is a BIG part of the Lago Mar Family and has been for a long time - 14 years. She has worked in The Spa, as well as down on the ...

Saturday Nite Alive in Fort Lauderdale

Hi! I was driving down Fort Lauderdale Beach Saturday night to meet some friends for dinner when I saw all of the festivities that were part of Saturday Nite Alive, presented by Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park. There were 20 bands, including: Taiko drummers, House of Flying Cards, and the Bahamian Junkanoo Revues. Also, there are 20 different art vendors showing off their work and it looked very interesting! Many of the beach hotels, restaurants, and bars participated by offering ...

Spa Day – TGIF

Hi! When I was in The Spa interviewing our new Spa Director, Eduardo Cuevas, I couldn't resist booking a massage for myself. I just wrapped up my massage and it was wonderful. Marge, who has been with us for 5 years, was my technician and she did the best deep tissue massage I have ever had! I can't rave enough about how amazing I feel after that massage. Marge used the Pure Fiji Coconut Oil on me, because it is my absolute ...

Menu Pick: Veg. Chimichurri Portabella Burger

Hi! I just came from lunch and I got to try out the new menu in the Palm Garden Room. I chose the Vegetarian Chimichurri Portabella Burger, a brand new dish added to the menu. OMG! It was so good and still very healthy! I loved the combination of the portabella with the squash, roasted red pepper, and avocado on the multi-grain ciabatta. Even though I am not a vegetarian, I am a big fan of having a variety meat-free ...

Acquario’s New Menu is a Huge Hit

Hi! I just wanted to get back to you about my awesome dinner in Acquario a few days ago. The kids and I had a great time trying a few of the new items on the menu. I ordered the Rock Shrimp Mac & Cheese and it was incredible! The combination of white cheddar, gruyere, and gorgonzola was so delicious. One of my kids tried the Hanger Steak & Caprese Salad which has tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, blue cheese, tomato vinaigrette, blackberry ...

First Annual St. Patrick’s Day Kids’ Party

Last Friday night we had our First Annual St. Patrick's Day Party for kids of members and guests. The event was held in the Lakeview Ballroom, which looked so festive with lots of green and white balloons and shamrocks everywhere! As the children entered the room they received party hats and beads to get in the mood. At the party, we served a fun, themed dinner. The guests could choose from corned beef and cabbage or chicken fingers with GREEN mashed ...

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

Hi! Yesterday I took the kids to the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival on Las Olas and we had a great time! The parade began promptly at noon and there was so much to see. There were several floats that were really neat with lots of decorations. My girls enjoyed seeing the Miss America contestants, all from different counties around Florida, riding in antique cars. There were fire trucks and there was even a Swat vehicle that looked liked a ...
