Saturday Nite Alive in Fort Lauderdale

Hi! I was driving down Fort Lauderdale Beach Saturday night to meet some friends for dinner when I saw all of the festivities that were part of Saturday Nite Alive, presented by Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park. There were 20 bands, including: Taiko drummers, House of Flying Cards, and the Bahamian Junkanoo Revues. Also, there are 20 different art vendors showing off their work and it looked very interesting! Many of the beach hotels, restaurants, and bars participated by offering ...

Spa Day – TGIF

Hi! When I was in The Spa interviewing our new Spa Director, Eduardo Cuevas, I couldn't resist booking a massage for myself. I just wrapped up my massage and it was wonderful. Marge, who has been with us for 5 years, was my technician and she did the best deep tissue massage I have ever had! I can't rave enough about how amazing I feel after that massage. Marge used the Pure Fiji Coconut Oil on me, because it is my absolute ...

New Spa Director: Eduardo Cuevas

Hi! I just left The Spa, where I was checking to see how our June Summer Indulgence Package has been going. I was thrilled to find out that it has been a huge hit with our members and guests! What a great way to celebrate the beginning of summer! I got the chance to have a nice conversation with our new Spa Director, Eduardo Cuevas. I am so excited about the new services he has planned, including microdermabrasion. In addition to serving as ...

Menu Pick: Veg. Chimichurri Portabella Burger

Hi! I just came from lunch and I got to try out the new menu in the Palm Garden Room. I chose the Vegetarian Chimichurri Portabella Burger, a brand new dish added to the menu. OMG! It was so good and still very healthy! I loved the combination of the portabella with the squash, roasted red pepper, and avocado on the multi-grain ciabatta. Even though I am not a vegetarian, I am a big fan of having a variety meat-free ...

Acquario’s New Menu is a Huge Hit

Hi! I just wanted to get back to you about my awesome dinner in Acquario a few days ago. The kids and I had a great time trying a few of the new items on the menu. I ordered the Rock Shrimp Mac & Cheese and it was incredible! The combination of white cheddar, gruyere, and gorgonzola was so delicious. One of my kids tried the Hanger Steak & Caprese Salad which has tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, blue cheese, tomato vinaigrette, blackberry ...

First Annual St. Patrick’s Day Kids’ Party

Last Friday night we had our First Annual St. Patrick's Day Party for kids of members and guests. The event was held in the Lakeview Ballroom, which looked so festive with lots of green and white balloons and shamrocks everywhere! As the children entered the room they received party hats and beads to get in the mood. At the party, we served a fun, themed dinner. The guests could choose from corned beef and cabbage or chicken fingers with GREEN mashed ...

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Festival

Hi! Yesterday I took the kids to the St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival on Las Olas and we had a great time! The parade began promptly at noon and there was so much to see. There were several floats that were really neat with lots of decorations. My girls enjoyed seeing the Miss America contestants, all from different counties around Florida, riding in antique cars. There were fire trucks and there was even a Swat vehicle that looked liked a ...

Seafood Special: Mako dish was Incredible

Hi! The Resort is very busy and everyone seems to be happy! Friday night I took my girlfriend, her kids and my kids to dinner at Lago Mar's restaurant Acquario and it was incredible.  Chef Phil had a seafood special on the menu that I just had to taste. The dish was fresh mako shark, flown in from Hawaii, served with a pineapple ginger bourbon sauce and duck egg fried rice. The glaze on this dish was so tasty! Though ...

Valentine’s Day Specials & Wi-Fi Upgrades

Hi! Not only am I still hearing great reviews about the Valentine's Day Specials Chef Phil offered in Acquario last week but there's also exciting news about Wi-Fi at the resort. Regarding the Valentine's Day Specials, I spoke with one couple I met out at the playground and they said they very much enjoyed the chateaubriand for two. The beef tenderloin dish was served with bourbon glaze onion marmalade and pale sweet mashed potatoes. My favorite Valentine's Day Special was the olive oil poached ...

Weather Report: Beautiful Day at Lago Mar

Hi! What a spectacular day at Lago Mar! My weather report: perfectly sunny and about 75 degrees. I just had the most delicious lunch with my second oldest daughter, Dani, outside on the Sea Grape Terrace. I enjoyed a Greek salad with blackened Mahi Mahi, which is one of our Spa Cuisine entrees. Dani ordered fish and chips from the "kids" menu. I have to admit that I stole about 5 of her fries. Lago Mar has the best french fries! Dani ...
