Hi! Fort Lauderdale was alive with music during the Tortuga Music Festival! Each day I was so lucky to be able to drive along A1A to take the kids to school and, last week, was even more fun because we got to watch the set up for the festival, including three very large stages!

Blake Shelton, Tim McGraw and Tucker Boatyard were among a few of the dozens of talented performers. Our resort got to see plenty of country music lovers checking in and loving the sunshine and the beach! I look forward to sneaking over there myself to enjoy the festivities.

On a separate note, I did want to share with you that the oldest member of the Fourth Generation turned 15 on Wednesday, April 13! To celebrate, all she wanted was a Chef Phil dinner with her friends in the Acquario dining room. To commemorate Demi on her special day, Chef Phil selected a few of her favorite dishes on the menu, including the 6 ounce filet, mahi mahi with a pina colada foam, wild mushroom ravioli for her vegetarian friends and the chicken quinoa salad. Taking these selections, the staff printed out a special menu that read “Happy Birthday Demi” across the top. Believe it or not, the most popular dish among these tiny girls was the hearty filet! As a first course, the Chef also featured a limited edition salad comprising of watermelon, strawberries and fried goat cheese, to tie the dish together – just like the ribbon on a birthday present! Of course, I could never forget to mention dessert. The highlight of Demi’s dinner had to have been her cake, which was vegan! She went crazy with excitement as Florentine, their server for the night, brought out the vegan vanilla cake that Phil ordered specially for her, embellished in blue and green frosting to resemble the ocean. It was also covered in the words “Happy 15th Birthday, Yogi Demi” in chocolate icing. Of course I had to stick a few Buddha miniatures into the frosting, feeling that there was no other way.

The girls loved it, Demi loved it and I even loved it (even though I was slightly hesitant on what vegan cake would taste like). Thank you to Florentine, Chef Phil and his staff for such a memorable night that I am sure Demi will never forget! Hopefully we will see you here in Fort Lauderdale soon or maybe even at next year’s Tortuga Festival!
